In Berriboo, romance rarely arrives with grand gestures.
There are no velvet ropes, expensive restaurants, or orchestras waiting around the corner. The residents of Berriboo seem to have their own understanding of what makes a moment special.
Sometimes, it is simply a flower.
This spring, Fly Bob, the local newspaper reporter, invited Adele on a date beneath the lilacs in Zina’s house.
The choice of location was hardly accidental. Lilacs have become one of the most recognizable signs of spring in Berriboo, filling gardens, courtyards, and quiet corners with their soft purple blooms.
Adele prepared carefully for the occasion. She chose her sweetest little skirt and arrived looking wonderfully excited. Bob, meanwhile, had clearly spent some time thinking about what to bring.
In the end, he chose something very small.
A single flower.
The moment Bob offered it to Adele became one of those tiny scenes that might easily go unnoticed in a busy day. But in Berriboo, small moments have a way of becoming important ones.
Adele looked at the flower. Then at Bob. Then back at the flower.
For a moment, she seemed to have forgotten everything she had planned to say.
Perhaps this is what romance looks like in Berriboo: not a spectacular declaration, but two little flies sitting beneath a vase of lilacs, sharing a flower and enjoying each other’s company.
The scene became a painting.
And the painting became another small piece of Berriboo’s history.
Because sometimes a flower is not just a flower.
Sometimes, it is a piece of spring given to someone you love. 💜
