From 18-Second Load Times to a Growth-Ready, SEO-Optimized Website

Acorel has 37+ years of experience and a market-leading product but its website did not showcase any of that. So we fixed the speed, the structure, the English version and the SEO, to make the site actually work as a sales tool.

About Acorel

Acorel is a French company and a market leader in automatic people counting. Its sensors and machine learning measure and predict real-time visitor flows in public transport, airports and public spaces. It has been on the market for 37+ years.

The problem: a strong brand with a weak website

A full UX/UI and SEO audit showed a site that did not match the company’s size or the value of its product. Here are some details:

Speed and tech

  • SEO score of 67/100 (the average for top 100 sites is 74), with 19 critical issues
  • Google PageSpeed: 23/100 on mobile, 44/100 on desktop.
  • Mobile Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): 18.3 seconds. Google recommends 2.5 seconds.
  • Page response time of 2.36 seconds (recommended: under 0.4), and full load of up to 18 seconds
  • 15 CSS files and 29 JS files, with no minification or gzip, and no HTTP/2 or HSTS

Content and UX

  • The homepage did not explain the product. A visit lasted only 2–3 screens, with no case studies or project numbers.
  • “Products,” “Services” and “Solutions” sat in separate sections, and there was no Cases/Projects page, which B2B buyers look for first.
  • The English site was a word-for-word copy of the French one. Some phrases were not even translated, and the French “Fermer” (“Close”) appeared in the English inquiry form.
  • The design looked dated for a market leader.
SEO
    • Only 275 visitors a month, all from France
    • Domain Rating of 18/100 (a competitor of the same age had 57)
    • 47 keywords, none in Google’s top 3
    • No work on keywords, meta tags or URLs, even though Google had indexed the domain for 20 years

What we did

1. Position the product and fix the structure

We studied competitors (INIT, Xovis, Webreathe) and rewrote the core message, so visitors get the value in the first few screens. We removed the split between “Solutions / Software / Domains” and added a Cases/Projects section.

2. Lead the design

We prepared wireframes and briefs and managed the designer from first concepts to final screens. The focus was modern visuals, clear proof points (years on the market, client numbers, precision metrics) and product-led images.

3. Build on WordPress and remove the speed problems

We managed the build, checked the code quality and removed the technical causes of slow loading.

4. Fix technical SEO and localization
  • Replaced the literal translation with a standalone, fully optimized English site
  • Set up correct hreflang for both languages
  • Rewrote meta titles, descriptions and URLs around target keywords
5. Add live chat

The sales team can now answer and process website inquiries faster.

Results

This phase focused on speed and user experience. We will measure traffic and leads separately once there is enough post-launch data.

  • Speed: PageSpeed went from 23–44 to 90+, and the site is in the “green zone” for Core Web Vitals.
  • Bugs: language errors in forms and slow inquiry submission are gone.
  • Navigation: the structure is clear and includes a Cases/Projects section, which builds B2B trust.
  • Bilingual site: a fully localized FR/EN site with the right SEO markup for each language.
  • SEO base: meta tags, URLs and page structure are in place, so the site can now grow organic traffic.
  • Live chat: inbound inquiries are handled faster.

What this means for your business

If your website looks and loads worse than your company really is, buyers will judge you by the website. We ran the full cycle for Acorel: audit, positioning, design management, development, technical SEO and live chat. The result is a fast, clear site that is ready to grow.
