ArboStar is a B2B SaaS platform for the tree care industry — one of the most underpenetrated vertical software markets in North America. We’re a team of ~100 people building a category-defining product, with customers across the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK.

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Finance who will take ownership of the company’s entire finance function and become a key business partner for leadership.

This is not just an accounting role. We are seeking someone who can combine strong financial operations with strategic thinking, helping leadership make informed business decisions, improve financial visibility, optimize profitability, and support the company’s continued growth.

You will work directly with leadership across a growing international B2B SaaS company of approximately 100 employees, building financial structure, improving reporting transparency, and driving operational efficiency across the business.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both high-level financial management and hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

• Own company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes

• Develop financial models, forecasts, and scenario planning to support business growth and operational decisions

• Monitor company performance, profitability, gross margins, and operational efficiency

• Provide leadership with financial insights, recommendations, and performance summaries for strategic decision-making

• Identify financial risks, cash-flow constraints, and cost optimization opportunities

• Build and maintain transparent internal financial reporting structures and KPI tracking

• Partner with department leaders on budgeting, resource planning, and financial accountability

• Support leadership with financial analysis related to growth initiatives and operational scaling

Financial Operations & Accounting Oversight

• Oversee full-cycle accounting operations (AP, AR, reconciliations, bookkeeping oversight)

• Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reporting and accounting processes

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting

• Oversee payroll accounting, contractor payments, and financial reconciliations

• Monitor cash flow and maintain short-term and long-term cash-flow forecasting

• Ensure compliance with Canadian financial regulations, HST filings, CRA requirements, and financial documentation standards

• Coordinate year-end activities and collaborate with external CPA/accounting partners

• Maintain audit-ready financial records and documentation

Process Improvement & Financial Infrastructure

• Improve and optimize financial processes, internal controls, and reporting workflows

• Implement and maintain financial systems and accounting tools, including QuickBooks Online

• Build scalable finance operations suitable for a growing international company

• Improve visibility into company financial performance across departments and operational areas

• Support implementation of financial best practices and operational discipline across the organization

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in finance, financial management, FP&A, controllership, or related leadership roles

• Previous experience working with US and/or Canadian companies

• Strong understanding of Canadian accounting practices, HST filings, payroll accounting, and CRA compliance

• Experience working in B2B SaaS environments

• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial analysis

• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software

• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills

• Experience working in growing small-to-mid-size businesses or scaling environments

• Experience working with international teams and multi-currency operations

• Ability to independently own and manage the company’s finance function end-to-end

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

• Upper-Intermediate English or higher, including written business communication

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field

Important Requirements

• Full-time availability aligned with EST business hours (9:00 AM — 5:00 PM EST)

• Ability to operate independently with high ownership and minimal supervision

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment
