EdTech platform for a medical center – KARL STORZ
About the client
KARL STORZ is a leading German manufacturer of endoscopic equipment for medicine and veterinary care. Pioneering the field since the 1950s, the company has grown into a global corporation with branches in over 40 countries.
In the early 2000s, KARL STORZ expanded to Ukraine, supplying advanced medical systems. A key focus of the Ukrainian branch is education — establishing a Kyiv-based training center to showcase products and host medical training events.
Task
Develop a digital ecosystem for a medical technology brand, including:
- A presentation website for the training center;
- An online platform for streaming medical events;
- A mobile app design for the service center.
Challenge
KARL STORZ came to Goodface to develop a website for training centers.
Each event at the center requires promotion, with landing pages being the main tool for ticket sales. Previously, the client’s team built these pages on Tilda, but the process took up to three days since each one had to be created almost from scratch.

We aimed to develop a site, which can make event creation smoother and faster whether it is an event for 1000 people or a small online lecture. And particular section for a new training center.

We conducted research, deeply analyzing KARL STORZ branches’ websites and competitors, exploring various events, finding their common points and differences, and learning about nuances of the free events organization.
Planning
When we realized we were building not just a website but a full-scale digital infrastructure, we had to rethink the entire project. The challenge was to make this complex system feel simple and intuitive for users.
As we worked, the project evolved. The KARL STORZ team proposed creating a private hub for surgeons to share knowledge via video. This idea resonated with us, and after analyzing similar platforms, we collectively decided to develop a full-fledged EdTech platform instead of just a personal account feature.
Online Platform
A true telemedicine solution: any surgeon can register and live-stream operations. Other specialists can join, observe, and interact through comments. The operating surgeon can respond in real time, either personally or via an assistant.
This enables remote consultations with multiple experts or live demonstration surgeries for students — bridging knowledge gaps and fostering collaboration in the medical field.
Design
For this project, we developed a unified visual style that integrated both the presentation website and the telemedicine platform.
We created layouts for the desktop version, tablet version, and mobile version. To maintain consistency in the visual design, we compiled each design element into a special document outlining the design system (GUI), which includes detailed descriptions of each component.

Online platform
We also designed an app for the service center, making it easier for medical institutions to service and repair KARLL ST STORZ equipment. The app has become another key component of the brand's digital infrastructure.
Development & Testing: Bringing the Platform to Life
For this project, we handled the entire technical implementation, both frontend and backend. On the frontend side, we developed a fully responsive layout, ensuring seamless functionality across all devices, whether desktop, tablet, or mobile.
A big focus was performance optimization — a crucial yet often overlooked aspect. Poor technical performance can hurt search rankings, making promotion and advertising more costly. We made sure the platform runs fast and error-free.
For content managers, we built an intuitive admin panel. There is a flexible event management system that allows them to create complex events in just 20-30 minutes.
Integration & Expansion
We developed a website for 2,5 months and an MVP for about 4 months.
The platform started as a simple but valuable solution — at first, viewers could only watch broadcasts. Later, we introduced commenting, gradually refining the platform by adding new features and adjusting the interface based on user feedback.
One of the most complex tasks was seamlessly integrating the website with the platform. This allowed newly created events to appear on the website instantly, ensuring a smooth and connected user experience.
During our work on the project:
- we developed three digital products in just six months.
- we designed 31 screens along with mobile-friendly adaptations, ensuring seamless access across all devices.
- dozens of events have already taken place within the new KARL STORZ digital environment, proving the platform’s effectiveness and demand.
Result
We've launched the core functionality of the telemedicine platform, and it’s already making an impact. Live broadcasts are happening regularly, new users are signing up, and KARL STORZ branches beyond Ukraine are also adopting the platform.

We designed an app that simplifies maintenance and repairs for medical institutions, adding another essential piece to KARL STORZ’s digital infrastructure.
