Custom UX/UI design and website development for a digital payment platform — Emerald24

Emerald24 is a UK-based multi-currency virtual payments platform and licensed EMI provider headquartered in the City of London, supporting both UK and EU customers from daily transactions to global operations.

Redesign the inconvenient virtual payment app

The virtual payment UX was outdated and difficult to use on web devices. Users stumbled while completing online payments, managing transactions, and switching between devices.

Although the platform worked well, its structure didn’t keep pace with Emerald24’s product growth.

User flows were confusing and complicated. New customers found it difficult to get started, while daily actions felt burdensome. Switching between the web and mobile apps was challenging and required extra effort from users.

Rebuild the legacy corporate website

The client noted that the existing Emerald’s 24 website didn’t fully reflect the product’s capabilities in line with the upgraded product positioning.

The visual style, page structure, and user navigation were outdated and misaligned with key features, including multi-currency accounts and advanced online payments.

From a marketing perspective, the website couldn’t clearly communicate the product’s value to businesses, end users, and partners.

Digital payment app UX/UI design

We laid out a clear product design roadmap for both web and mobile apps, concentrating on what the virtual payment platform should serve.

  1. For end users, the platform should support a daily routine like app onboarding, payment approvals, and account management on both web and mobile devices.
  2. For internal Emerald24 teams, it was important to keep compliance visible and remove repetitive & time-consuming operations.
  3. For the business partners and corporate clients, the B2B virtual payment platform needed to scale without bringing complexity to operations.

Rebuilding the virtual payment app onboarding flow

The original onboarding process felt long and overwhelming, combining verification, document uploads, and compliance checks in a single flow. We broke it into smaller, easier-to-complete steps.

Users can now move through the process at their own pace, review previous information, and make changes without restarting. As a result, the time to reach the review stage dropped from 40–60 minutes to 20–30 minutes.

Redesigning the legacy virtual payment form

Emerald’s onboarding forms created unnecessary friction. To improve completion rates and usability, we redesigned them using step-based patterns commonly seen in modern e-commerce experiences.

Instead of presenting everything at once, we broke the process into focused, manageable steps. Each screen covers a single topic, while users can easily review and edit previously entered information at any point.

Aligning digital banking experience across web & mobile apps

Emerald24 customers regularly jump between web and mobile banking during the same task. We designed the experience around this behavior while preserving the existing authentication flow based on passwords and SMS OTP verification.

At key stages, users can switch to the mobile app and continue from where they left off.
By treating web and mobile as parts of the same journey, we created a more connected experience that feels consistent across devices and less stressful during critical actions.

Refreshing the fintech corporate identity without rebuilding the brand

The new identity introduced glass textures, a signature green gradient, and a custom set of glass-inspired illustrations.

Rather than turning these elements into decoration, we applied them selectively throughout the product. The gradient became a core component of the design system, while 3D glass icons appeared only where they added visual value and reinforced the brand.

Digital bank website redesign & development

The previous website no longer reflected the breadth of Emerald24’s products and services. We restructured the navigation, clarified the content hierarchy, and simplified the presentation of digital payment solutions.

Product pages now speak to businesses, partners, and fintech customers alike, helping each audience quickly understand the platform’s capabilities and find relevant information without unnecessary complexity.

Project result

Emerald24 now operates as a unified digital banking ecosystem with a consistent experience across web and mobile platforms.

The redesigned flows make onboarding and account management simpler, reducing friction for customers while improving clarity across key interactions. Internal workflows also became more structured and transparent, supporting day-to-day operations more effectively.

At the same time, the corporate website now communicates the platform’s full capabilities, helping Emerald24 engage customers, partners, and investors while creating a stronger foundation for future growth.
